Sakura, lots of free time, and Harry Potter

If you don't know--and I'd imagine most of you don't--I've just gotten back from a trip. It's our spring break, and in the Japanese school systems, the spring break is pretty long. I took advantage of this and went on a little trip. It was a nice place...people were friendly...quite like being home...

Anyway, I got back just in time to see the sakura bloom. As you know, Japan is moderately known for the millions and millions and cherry blossoms that bloom every year. They seriously pop up over night, and are apparently gone in about 10 days, so it's nice that I'm here for that. Well...nice to look at, at least. My allergies are going crazy.

As I mentioned, the spring break is a long one. I just found out today that classes don't start back up officially until the 12th, and then my language classes won't start until the 17th. I have a good long time to do...nothing. One of my friend told me that it's nice for about 5 days, then you start going mad from boredom. Tsukuba isn't the most...er...happening city, if you will.

Have you seen it? A new Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban trailer is out! (Modem users beware, this is a huge download.) I'm very excited to see this movie, but they've got so many people wrong. Until now, I think they've been doing an excellent job of casting people who look how my mind imagines the characters...but in this one...

Sirius is wrong. His hair isn't long enough..he's not dirty enough...his eyes are too...not...sunken-in-looking. Trelawny is also wrong. She should be taller, less wild hair, more dreamy voice. Lupin...oh don't get me started on Lupin. Lupin is wrong...his voice is just wrong and he's too old and looks...wrong. Doesn't matter, of course, as I'll be spending the night in front of the theater opening day (June 26th for me!) merrily chucking out about $1500 to see it...

I've been reading the series through again when I get bored here...I've made my way up to the 5th book. I've been reading a bit before going to bed, and that has resulted in odd, Harry Potter-themed dreams.

One dream took place in my hometown, where a friend from OSU was driving me around in a certain blue Ford Anglia...We stopped to chat with some girls in my sax class that my cousin was hitting on in front of the YMCA. (That's sAx class, thank you. First person to make the same tired joke will meet my wrath.)

Another dream was very strange indeed. It took place about everywhere, and there were a lot of coyotes. However, my patronus--that apparently takes the form of a wolf--does an impressive job of fighting back packs of wild coyotes that are trying to attack me and random people I went to highschool with as we're barricaded in my youngest brother's room in my parent's house...

That dream went on for a while until I was woken by screaming from my next door neighbor. "Brett...you're the biggest dork ever!" he informed me. "Yes though, aren't I?" I replied, before rolling over and going back to sleep...
