Site promotion and Harry Potter

I made the mistake a couple days ago of looking at the stats for nar3 (and its subdomains) and decided that japan.nar3 just isn't popular enough.

Some of you may remember waaaaay back in 2000 and 2001 that I was running a full time webcam in my college dorm. I had a little online journal going...it was a modest site, though the webcam brought in a load of traffic to it. I was listed in many online webcam directories, and it was a really cool way to meet random net people.

However, times change, and so does the net. Many webcam directories have turned into nothing but cheap smut, and now, any Jane or John can get an account at one of many online journals or blogging sites. Basically, 14 year old west coast girls have taken over and defiled the once fine art of blogging; and 16 year olds with their amazon.com wishlists in hand--and lack of morals, shame, and self-respect--have turned webcam sites into cheap entertainment for dirty old men.

Even though, I am going to start adding my website to some of the more respectable webcam directories. I don't know how long it will take for the webcam surfers to start showing up, but be forewarned: I do not take any crap. If you start in on me, I will immediately ban your IP address without question.

So...there is my webcam lecture...moving on!

Have you seen the new Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban trailer? Mmm. I'm excited. Yes, I'm a dork...quite possibly even a geek, but I don't care. The books are great fun to read, and the movies are always fun to watch, even if they're not as much fun as the books. The Prisoner of Azkaban is probably my favorite of the series, so I'm extra excited about the movie. The trailer has inspired me to start reading the books again in what little free time I have. You always have to be careful with a good book, else you'll be reading and look over at the clock and realize it's 5am and you have class in 3 hours.

Nothing of interest has happened here. It's gotten cold and windy. Oddly, it snows very little here, but it's definitely cold enough to. It's a very dry kind of cold, which is very different from the extrememly humid winters of southern Ohio that I'm used to. When you go outside in humid cold, it goes straight through you and you KNOW it's cold. Here, if you go outside, it might not feel very cold, but if you start moving or if there's any breeze, you freeze.

I agree about the webcam stuff. Back when we were one of only a handful of people on mylivewebcam.com it was pretty good fun, but soon the cam-whores took over and sensible people got pushed to the bottom of the listings.

I keep giving serious thought to getting my cam and blog setup again, but thinking is as far as I get.
